James Richard Jones, who went by Jim, was the Aircraft Maintenance Officer with attack squadron VA-34, which was embarked on board the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CV-11) in 1967. His diary chronicles his time aboard USS Intrepid and mentioned several major events in Intrepid's history at that time.

Overview
The John Bardo Gattey Papers contain materials from Gattey's service aboard USS Intrepid in 1944 and was killed in action during the kamikaze attacks on November 25, 1944. It includes a diary from his time aboard Intrepid, as well as his marriage certiticate, his purple heart certificate, and a memorial certificate signed by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt after his death.

Overview
The John Postick Papers includes three books and one program from Postick's service on board USS Intrepid and his life after it. John Peter Postick served on board from 1933-1946. He enlisted in Philadelphia, PA September 1, 1943. He was received on board Intrepid May 1944 as a Fireman First Class (F1). In October of 1944 he received a rate change to EM3 (T) to fill a vacancy in that department. In January he had a rate change to EM2. He was transferred off the ship in May 1946.

Mr. Sheperson had copied down his calendar before he left the Intrepid. The calendar is a diary of sorts that details the major events that happened on board Intrepid March-September 1945.
