Biography
Thomas Dugan, from Greenwood, Texas, served aboard Intrepid as an aviation machinist's mate second class during World War II, from 1943 to 1945. Dugan’s service aboard Intrepid began before the ship was commissioned, when he was assigned to guard the radar room while the ship was in Newport News. He remained aboard Intrepid through 1945, and experienced operations throughout the Pacific Theater. After his time in the Navy, Dugan returned home, worked in the oil fields of Texas, and married his wife, Dixie, who he had met before going off to the war.
