Biography
Lance Nowland, from Manhattan Beach, CA, served on Growler as a missile technician second class from 1959 to 1962. In addition to his duties as a missile technician, he also stood watches in the maneuvering room and was a qualified diver. Nowland served aboard Growler during the boat’s first and second patrols.
