Biography
Roy Latall, from Chicago, Illinois, served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CV-11) as an aviation machinist’s mate second class in the arresting gear crew during World War II, from 1943 to 1945. He experienced every major event during Intrepid’s World War II service, from the shakedown cruise to major battles and kamikaze attacks. After the war had ended, Latall continued his education and became an orthopedic surgeon.
