Biography

Don Bee served on board the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CV-11) during World War II. According to the ship’s muster rolls, Mr. Bee joined the ship’s company on May 1, 1944 as a seaman second class and was transferred off the ship on December 28, 1945 as an aviation boatswain’s mate - plane handler third class, ABM(PH)3. Don and his wife Eloise recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on board the ship, and the Museum had previously interviewed the two of them. It was at that time that the digital components of their collection were scanned. The scans were later accessioned along with physical components.
