Joseph D. Murphy served aboard Intrepid as a gunnery officer and deck officer during World War II, from 1943 to 1946. Thomas Dugan, from Greenwood, Texas, served aboard Intrepid as an aviation machinist's mate second class during World War II, from 1943 to 1945.
