Scope and Contents

The main propulsion assistant (MPA) was responsible to the engineer officer for the operation, care, and maintenance of the ship’s propulsion machinery (its main engines and boilers) and its related auxiliaries. B and M Divisions fell under his administrative authority. Lt. Cdr. Peter J. Mauro served as MPA from 1972 to 1973. The Engineering Log and the Engineer’s Bell Book are legal records of the Engineering Department inspected and submitted by the MPA.
