Abstract The John "Jack" Standish Papers contain both items from his service aboard Intrepid from 1959–61 and newspaper clippings about the Intrepid Museum in later years. In addition to newspaper clippings, materials in this collection include a Cruise Book from 1959, various navy and Intrepid identification cards, service records, ports of call booklets, reference guides and manuals, war ration booklets, and other Intrepid related ephemera that span Standish's time with Intrepid.

R. Nicholas Chapman Papers

Abstract The R. Nicholas Chapman Papers contain reports, poems, and programs from Chapman's time aboard USS Intrepid. R. Nicholas Chapman served on board Intrepid as part of the decommissioning crew. Chapman was the H Division Officer and oversaw sick bay. Included in these papers are three farewell poems to various squadrons, the USS Intrepid Medical Report for 1972-1973, a program from Intrepid's 1974 Decommissioning ceremony, and a program from Intrepid's 30th Anniversary in 1973.

Abstract Richard K. Gaines was the first Executive Officer of Intrepid. His papers include the program from Intrepid's Commissioning ceremony, Intrepid printed newspapers, Plans of the Day, documents a report about the first Shakedown Cruise from September 14 to November 1, 1943, personnel records and reports, Naval dispatches, Naval song sheets, and other records pertaining to Intrepid's operations and the Pacific Fleet during Gaines' time as Commanding Officer.
