Biography

Jimm Larry Hendren, born and raised in Gravette, Arkansas, served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CVS-11) as the ship’s legal officer during the 1966 WESTPAC cruise to Vietnam. As the legal officer, he was to be the captain’s legal advisor and perform other related tasks such as conducting JAG manual investigations. Hendren also had the collateral duty of junior officer of the watch on the sea and anchor detail. After leaving Intrepid, Hendren completed a second tour in Vietnam as a military judge and assistant legal officer at Da Nang, Naval Support Activity. He was then ordered to teach at the Naval Justice School. After leaving the Navy, Hendren returned home to Arkansas, married, had a family, and practiced law, eventually becoming a federal judge.
