Sloan experienced life as a Navy wife, living in Hawaii when Dennis served aboard Growler, interacting with many of the other Navy wives, and raising a family while Dennis served aboard four other submarines.

Nancy Sloan married Dennis Sloan, who served aboard Growler as an officer from 1959 to 1960.
