Biography

June Hays, from Santa Anna, Texas, married Wesley Hays in 1943, and experienced life on the home front during World War II while Wes served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CV-11) in VBF-10. June also saw Intrepid while the ship was in Alameda, and even spent a brief moment aboard Intrepid when she was allowed to help Wes unpack his room. She then returned to Texas where she raised their son, wrote to Wes, and witnessed life on the home front. After the war had ended and Wes returned home, June and Wes resumed their lives together and had three more children.
