Biography
Wesley Hays, from Novice, Texas, served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CV-11) during World War II, in 1945, as a Corsair pilot in VBF-10. He flew mission over Okinawa and participated in the attack on the Yamato. Hays was also attached to Intrepid when the ship experienced its last kamikaze hit in April of 1945. After the war ended, Hays returned home to his family in Texas, where he worked as a sales executive for Snap-on tools and then owned and operated a Western Auto store.
