    Joseph Barry, from Trenton, New Jersey, served aboard Intrepid as a radioman during World War II. While aboard Intrepid, Barry worked in the radio shack, which was inside of the island, decoding messages. He also experienced the torpedo attack at Truk and multiple kamikaze attacks. After his time in the Navy, Joseph Barry worked for, and eventually purchased, his uncle’s appliance repair business.
